In January 2017, Johnny Depp filed a $25 million lawsuit accusing his former business managers of fraud and mismanagement.

His managers countersued, claiming that the actor led an "extravagant and extreme" lifestyle, which included buying 14 properties and a 156-foot yacht and spending $3.6 million a year to pay his 40-person staff.

The lawsuit was settled in July. No details were released at the time, but a spokesman for Depp said in a statement that the actor was "pleased" with the outcome.

In January 2017, Johnny Depp filed a $25 million lawsuit against his former business managers, accusing them of fraud and mismanagement that has cost him millions of dollars.

The "Pirates of the Caribbean" star was then hit by a countersuit from his managers, who claimed that the actor led an "extravagant and extreme" lifestyle.

His business managers, Joel and Robert Mandel of The Management Group, said that Depp made $650 million in the more than a decade they worked with him. But Depp reportedly splurged this money on a lavish lifestyle that included buying 14 properties and a 156-foot yacht and spending $3.6 million a year to pay his 40-person staff, The Hollywood Reporter wrote in May 2017.

The lawsuit was settled in July, but no details were released. At the time, a spokesman for Depp said in a statement that the actor was "pleased" with the outcome.

Take a look at some of the insane real estate that he has loved, lost, and held on to over his career:

Johnny Depp's business managers alleged that he spent over $75 million to "acquire, improve and furnish 14 residences," according to the lawsuit.

His managers persuaded him to sell some of these properties to keep up with monthly bills that totaled $2 million. One of those monthly costs was upkeep for his 150-foot luxury yacht, "Amphitrite," which he reportedly spent $18 million on.

His managers claimed that Depp would not be able to afford the $350,000 monthly upkeep he had laid out for this yacht. Joel Mandel, his accountant, convinced Depp to sell the yacht, and it was reportedly bought by JK Rowling in 2016.

JK Rowling reportedly put the yacht up for sale just eight months after she bought it. It was sold in July 2017.

A promotional video gives a look inside.

Some of Depp's other extravagant purchases have still not been sold. He owns a 37-acre village in the south of France, which was listed with Christie's last year. A spokesperson for Christie's told Business Insider that the property was taken off the market at the end of 2017.

The property is located outside the exclusive seaside town of Saint-Tropez.

When it was last listed, the price was available only upon request. However, in the past, it has been listed for $25 million. Depp invested about $11 million into restoring its 18th-century buildings.

The estate includes the main house, six guest cottages (one of which is a converted chapel), and a restaurant. There are 15 bedrooms and 14 bathrooms in total.

It also has two pools and a painter's studio, which, according to the previous listing, is a favorite room of Depp's.

Depp also owns a three-island property in the Bahamas, which he bought for $5.35 million, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

Known as "Little Halls Pond Cay," it has six different beaches.

A neighboring island, Halls Pond Cay, is currently on the market with Chestertons International for $75 million.

But his most extravagant purchase was perhaps his five penthouses, which are all in the same building in Downtown Los Angeles.

The penthouses are in the landmark Art Deco-style Eastern Columbia Building.

Depp purchased the units for around $7.2 million between 2007 and 2008.

Originally, they were listed together for $12.78 million but were sold separately, bringing in a total of $10.88 million.

The last property was sold in November 2017 for $1.4 million.

And then there are the five houses that Depp still owns on a cul-de-sac in the Hollywood Hills, which are collectively worth $19 million, according to the Hollywood Reporter. According to US Weekly, Depp had considered building a tunnel between the homes.

  3. He never lied he had a past relationship he never hit her and ended it in a good note why would he start hitting woman in his 50s

  4. Its common for domestic abuse victims to say they injured themselves to cover for their loved one. Its also very embarassing to admit. I was a domestic violence survivor and i did the same thing. So many of us do as we are trying to salvage our relationships. I ended up getting out. I feel for Depp.

  5. I've been Verbally abused by both my dad and Stepmother…. They think its okay to buy me 100$ stuff than they think its okay to talk to me however they want 😔😔

  6. Media are biased against Johnny and only report what The Sun´s side said. When he started the lawsuit,in his declaration,Johnny already said he lied to the doctor to cover up for Amber, but Doctor Kipper knew better and said it was impossible that he did that injury alone. PLUS, Waldman said The Sun and Amber lied about the day it happened because she said March 8th and March 8th Johnny was already in the hospital for the injury. She can´t even keep her fake stories straight and follow her own narrative.

  7. Sure JD kind of lied about this. But he did so to protect AH
So if anything, especially in the light of all the evidence against AH, this proves how much of a victim he is.

  8. Only to protect heard and that was when they were still married. He isn’t lying about the abuse he faced at her hands. There’s way too much proof that he’s telling the truth

  9. Hi Tristen, he has previous for not putting out the facts when it is detrimental to someone else, doesn`t he ? Was it his divorce or something else ? As you say, unless you are in a Columbo episode, it is difficult to be in two places at once. R.I.P. Peter Falk, I really enjoyed his work.

  11. Funny thing is victims downplay their abuse and sometimes lie about their abuse in order to not feel ashamed or to protect their abuser if it's someone they loved.

How many times have you heard that song and tune?

Ask any doctor or professional if the injury looks like it's from slicing or cutting one's finger off or from someone else causing injury due to throwing a sharp object.

  12. Watch Scamber next say “he walked REALLY hard into my hand, 🤔🤔..oh wait. It wasn’t a proper slap so he RAN really hard into my FIST”! 🙄🙄

  13. Johnny, in the beginning, ALWAYS tried to keep all of this “on the down low”, even pleading with Scamber to do so also. He’s also ALWAYS kept his personal life out of the media so not throwing the fact that she had everything to do with his finger is obviously what he WOULD do! He obviously loved that bitch (when if you look at his relationship with his mother you’d see that he grew up with a kinda abusive mother). It’s entirely “normal” to replicate your primary relationship – your mother, in later relationships. BTW, Yes. I AM a psychologist….LOL. I mentioned before that on Instagram @ johnnydcase has almost every single story, court docs, etc on this case. Every U-Tube that I see, the info can always be found, including court docs on that page. So. Maybe give it a try. 🤷‍♀️

  14. SUCH a manipulative biased headline. It should be "Johnny lied to doctor to shield Amber because she caused injury to his finger"

  15. First of all, Johnny wasn't going to say anything against her until she accused him of abuse and he had to defend himself. He tried to stop her many times, and gave in to all of her demands and he was going to stay quiet. His career was destroyed and yet he still did not want to hurt her or her career. There are recordings between him and Amber's parents where he tells them he doesn't want her career to be ruined like his was, AND THEY WERE ON HIS SIDE!!! There are recordings between him and Amber where he begs her to stop all of this, and she refused. There are recordings of her taunting Johnny and telling him that no one would believe him. Of her demeaning him and making fun of him for getting abused. Recordings where he states that he had to leave because she was physically abusing him, and she was pissed because he left, or he wanted to leave. Many people came forward to back up Johnny, like his ex-partners, friends, ex-coworkers, people who knew both Johnny and Amber defended him and have stated that Amber was the one who rude, and abusive not just to Johnny but to people working for her and him. Where are all of the "witnesses" she had at the beginning, like IO, Raquel Pennington, Elizabeth Marz?? I haven't heard from them in a while. Their accusations have been debunked and they are hiding out. There is sooo much evidence against Amber and she is now having to make up stories of what happened, and give dates, just to try and cover her ass. What a coincidence that when Elon and Amber broke up he had bruising on his face and they had to keep up appearances that they were still together for a while after. I'm not saying that Amber caused the bruising, but it's rather suspicious, especially when he's stayed quiet. I'd be bringing in all of her ex-partners for questioning. They could be valuable to the case, whether against her or on her side. Especially when multiple of Johnny's ex-partners have gone public to defend him. Where are all of her people now? Where's her "baby" sister that she soo desperately wanted to save from Johnny's wrath??
Look, I'm not saying that he's completely innocent of any wrongdoings, but the evidence speaks for itself. There is evidence that she instigated fights, evidence that she abused him, evidence of her manipulating and harassing Johnny. Where is all of her evidence against him?
Also, she was the one who suggested to record their arguments and conversations. Who suggests something like that with no ulterior motive? That is incredibly suspicious. Ultimately that suggestion is coming back to bite her in the ass. She wanted to cause Johnny the ultimate pain after he suggested a termination of their marriage. She filed for divorce *THREE DAYS AFTER HIS MOTHER PASSED AWAY*, when he was preoccupied mourning the loss of his mother. Many people stay together for a while after certain tragedies happen, despite the fact that they might be separated from their partner. They support their partner, or ex-partner through difficult times because that's the decent thing to do. People treat people how they wish to be treated back.

  16. If you listen to the tapes amber heard admits to throwing a bottle at him and injuring his finger. She also admitted to multiple other times she attacked him. Pretty clear who the abuser is here. 🤔🤷🏼‍♀️

  17. One of the text messages that Johnny sent to his doctor, says:

“Thank you for everything. I have chopped off my left middle finger as a reminder that I should never cut my finger off again. I love you brother, Johnny.”

Middle finger of his left hand? It was the RIGHT MIDDLE FINGER that was injured! It’s impossible to get this wrong you know? I mean, unless, you can't see your fucking bleeding hand while holding your phone!

Plus, who’ll send their doctor a text message when their finger was chopped off? If it's an emergency, WHY NOT CALL HIM INSTEAD???

This sounds like a stupid ploy to me. Someone either faked the messages or used his phone to send this message.

It's super easy to use your partner's phone since it's very accessible to you.

  18. It isn't uncommon for domestic violence victims to lie to cover for their abuser. Happens all the time. She did it.
