Fix – USB drive shows 0 bytes

USB shows 0 bytes? External hard drive shows 0 bytes? 0 bytes in Used space, Free space as well as Capacity? Windows prompts to format it before use? File system becomes RAW…
In general, if you encounter 0 bytes drive, you can turn to MIniTool Power Recovery to recover lost files. after recovering 0 bytes files, you can format the 0 bytes drive to use it again,

  1. This tool is not working on my USB drive so i changed the drive letter and reboot PC not USB drive start working again

What can causeUSB flash drive becoming seemingly "empty" after attempts of some programs to access it?  If I uninstall that drive and initialize it again by re-connecting (alternative "scan for hardware cganges" doesn't help if drive remains connected!), then drive becomes properly recognized again and I can see, write and read files on the drive, but if some specific program alike speed test checker tries to access the drive, it becomes un-recognized with 0 bytes capacity.   Process is repeatable and doesn't depend on USB socket.   Other USB flash drives don't experience the same problem.

  11. I don't know if you'll respond to this but, I've a USB Flash Drive where I installed Linux. But now I want it back. I've tried like four tools and the command prompt. It doesn't work at all. Can you help me please? It shows that it is 0 bytes and it can't be formatted! Looking forward to your response!

Hi, The Minitool program doesn't show Disk 1 like diskpart does (the USB Stick uses another disk) and when i try opening the USB Stick from Windows this pops up: "Please insert a disk into (E:)." I also cannot format it through Windows. And i cannot even create a partition through diskpart, it shows me that the USB Stick has 0 used space and 0 free space.

    I'm trying to find my USB Key, but the Mini Tool can't detect it. I could see some undefined partitions, but when I chose it, I can see some pictures and information that I never saw before in my PC. Anyway, even after scan all partitions, I can't find the powerpoint that was inside my USB Key.
    I already tried all solution described in the other comments, but no solution to detect and recover the document inside my USB Key…

  26. My issue is when I plug in my hard drive it will show this in the My PC area: http://imgur.com/a/k339G then I can't click them or it will completely lag my pc. When I use recovery programs it won't load the drive and when I boot with the drive in it won't load the boot so I have to unplug it and plug it back in once booted. Legit all I need is my Coding folder off of that hard drive it has 5 years of work put into it.

  30. Hi! I used this software and it found my files for my damaged harddrive however, every file was marked with a red "!" saying that it's RAW. I unplugged my HD and plugged it in again later and when I tried scanning again on the software to get my files, the software does not respond and crashes…. this happens with every recovery option and i dont know why… can you please help?
