Delicious Bánh Giò (Steamed Rice & Pork Dumpling) in Hanoi 2018 | VIETNAMESE FOOD

This awesome Vietnamese food is called Bánh Giò, which is a steamed rice flour dumpling filled with ground pork and wood ear mushroom. It’s steamed inside of a banana leaf.
It’s topped with various pork sausages and pickled cucumbers and then doused with tons of hot sauce. THIS IS GOOD EATING!
Though many people eat it for breakfast, you can eat it any time of the day. I’ve had it for breakfast, lunch, and dinner (not all in the same day, LOL).
Different places make it slightly differently, such as small enough to fit in the palm of your hand, or in a pyramid shape. This restaurant makes them very large, more than enough to feed two people.
If you’re in Vietnam and want to try something other than Pho and Banh Mi, definitely give this a try! Don’t forget the hot sauce!!!
A full order with all toppings is 27K VND ($1.12 USD), while just the Bánh giò by itself is 12K VND ($0.52 USD).

  2. Nothing can beat Bánh giò on the trains. When you get bored and feel a bit cold and there comes the food cart, it suddenly feels hungry like hell

  3. i have a suggestion, why not you create a video like Mark Wiens, he eats a variety kind of food and not always PORK …. thats why he has a lot of Muslim subscriber & viewer too …. so when all kind of people mixed up, he has a huge subscriber & viewer, and end up good for him

  4. I've been watching your videos recently, since I've subbed, and it's making me want to come back to Hanoi. I know there are other parts to see but I feel like I barely tried anything, although, I've eaten so much while I was there 😭😭😭

  5. You really made the food sound good. Is the banana leaf edible? What does it taste like? Why all of a sudden I wish I was that plate of food 😂

  6. I am sooo on the countdown to come there! The food omg the food, I can't wait.. Thx for providing the info on the places as we will be going to try this for sure 🙂 Cheers.

  7. Man, I wish I could have tried it while traveling around the North a few years back. It looks so good for human consumption. Lol

  8. I don't understand the 1 glove thing when they use the hand that doesn't have the glove to handle the food! Hopefully she doesn't handle money too.

  9. had this for dinner tonight, same restaurant… definitely one of the best in town. Vietnamese sheppard's pie! i'm pretty sure the sauce is fermented sriracha'

i'm a big fat guy and i can eat alot. banh gio, clean rice, and pho xau bo are my "go to's" when i need something substantial.

  10. Just have to say I love how you eat! Surprised you got that much in your mouth. I love Vietnamese food. Fresh vegetables not loaded or overcooked with too much sauce.

  11. Sorry to say but Banh Gio must be eaten without all of those toppings because they ruin the main taste of Banh Gio. Idk in HN people love to eat like that but in many other provinces we just eat Banh Gio, no cucumber, sausages and etc

  12. OMG, this is one of my HUGE FAVORITE besides banh goi and banh tom!!!!!!! Btw, you can also try banh chuoi, which is fried banana cake, it is really special , very close to banh tom-shrimp cake hihi

  13. Thanks Cory, for your latest update. I love Vietnamese food, so much going on in one plate. Shall keep this in mind on my next visit to Hanoi. Cheers!

  14. Wow – Thanks for sharing this one mate. I'm Vietnamese and I've never heard of this let alone tried it. Will have to plan a trip back to Vietnam. Looks so good
